Message from our President

It is my great pleasure and duty on behalf of the members of Greystones Bowling Club to welcome you to our fabulous website maintained by Kevin. I hope you enjoy browsing it. Our club is based in the beautiful Burnaby Park in Greystones. We are open to all. If you’re passing, come in for a chat. If there’s a game on, come in and watch it. It’s a game of great skill. The camaraderie within the club both socially and competitively is very positive. We compete in several Irish Lawn Bowling (ILB) leagues and championships. Our division 4 Monday league team under the captaincy of John Conroy won the Cooper Cup in 2023. A fabulous achievement by our players. We have a magnificent grass green in a very picturesque and peaceful garden setting. It is maintained by our Greens convenor John Murphy and a dedicated band of club volunteers.

Bowling is a game for all ages. Our youngest member Moira is 20, whilst our oldest playing member Tom is 91, a mere 71 years in the difference. A common refrain in the bowling world is “I’m sorry I didn’t take it up earlier”. We hold an open day each year. People can have a go. If you fancy trying it out, free coaching can be arranged to see if it’s for you.
Enjoy the site.

Fergus O’Brien. President
